The Jersey waters where a 62-foot yacht sank on Friday night, have been declared safe and re-opened to commercial traffic.

Ports of Jersey say a hydrographic survey took place yesterday afternoon (18 November) and confirmed the boat poses no danger to navigation. Therefore the western approaches to and from St Helier Harbour have been re-opened.

The yacht is just of Portelet and completely submerged to a depth of around 20 metres of water.

It sunk after hitting a buoy in St Aubin's Bay. Two crew members were rescued by the island's Fire and Rescue Service.
