Minimum standards for rentals in Jersey could be introduced
A new law to improve the standard of Jersey's rental accommodation is due to be debated in the States today.
If approved, the proposal will ensure minimum standards for all rental properties in Jersey.
It hopes to tackle poor accommodation across the island, which can lead to wider problems such as poor health and poor education.
The new law will define what 'rented accommodation' qualifies as and will now legally include winter lets and staff accommodation.
Jersey's Head of Environmental Health, Stewart Petrie, says he hopes it will help the islands most vulnerable.
