Widespread changes to Jersey’s same-sex marriage law could face further delays as politicians criticise “errors and oversights” in the Chief Minister's proposals.

In a letter to the Chief Minister, Deputy John Le Fondre, Chairman of the Corporate Services Scrutiny panel, said he plans to “call in” the legislation for further review.

It follows further amendments to the legislation lodged in recent weeks which see the proposals affecting 31 laws in total.

States members are planning to debate the new law, which includes legalising same-sex marriage and outdoor ceremonies, on 14th November, but will not be able to agree to all the proposals.

The Chief Minister still hopes that couples will be able to get married from Spring 2018.
