Conservationists aim to improve biodiversity in Guernsey
Conservationists in Guernsey are urging landowners to allow them to plant flowers in their fields as part of a new project.
La Societe and Guernsey Land Management services is running the scheme.
The aim is to encourage migratory and breeding birds back to the island and improve biodiversity.
There is real concern among bird lovers that some of the best known and loved birds are under threat from extinction.
In 2009, there were 53 species on the birds of conservation concern Red List - that number is now 67.
That means more than a quarter of UK bird species considered under threat globally.
Environmentalists behind the project say if people do not start doing something now, the island could lose its wildlife forever.
