A Jersey politician says an increase to the minimum wage in Jersey to £7.50 an hour (recommended by the government's employment forum) doesn't go far enough.

Deputy Andrew Lewis thinks it doesn't take into account external economic pressures such as Brexit, which may push up the cost of living.

The politician also says steps to introduce a living wage in Jersey are not moving quickly enough.

Deputy Lewis told ITV News he understood that businesses need time to adjust to higher wages for the lowest paid in Jersey but he said that a nine year transition period was 'simply too long'.
