Views sought on 'civil forfeiture' law
Jersey's government is asking for views on whether to introduce a "civil forfeiture" regime.
The law would allow property to be confiscated by the States if it is suspected to be involved in a crime, even if the owner has not been convicted.
The Chief Minister's Department says the legislation would help the island fight financial crime.
The consultation announced today follows recommendations made in a report last year by assessors from the Council of Europe, which recommended civil forfeiture be introduced in Jersey.
The consultation will close on 1st November.
