A Portuguese man o' war was found at St Ouen's bay in Jersey this morning.

It was spotted by an ambulance driver from the JSPCA, who took it to the Environment Department.

It has also been confirmed today that nine of the creatures have been sighted in Guernsey in recent weeks, a decade after the species was last reported in the island.

The Department of the Environment has asked that beachgoers keep an eye out to see if any more have washed up on the shore.

Their advice is "if you see one, avoid touching it" as their stings can be fatal.
