Jersey sailor Phil Sharp finished second in his class in the 47th Fastnet Race in a time of three days, four hours, and seven minutes.

His boat Imerys had been leading at dawn on the final morning, but was overtaken at around 06:00 by rival V&B, which reached the finish in Plymouth less than an hour ahead.

Sharp, along with Pablo Santurde, Robin Marais, and Pietro Luciani, were one of more than 30 crews contesting their class, in what is the largest offshore race in the world overall.

Phil Sharp now has two firsts and two seconds in the 2017 Class 40 Championship with one race remaining.
