New independent adviser to oversee data protection in the Channel Islands
The new independent Shadow Chair for Data Protection for the islands won’t be recruited from either Guernsey or Jersey.
The role will provide independent advice to the islands' governments regarding their responsibilities under new data protection legislation.
The move comes after Jersey & Guernsey agreed to introduce new laws which gives residents the same standard of protection of personal data as people living within the European Union.
