Inquest into teenager who died after taking strong ecstasy
An inquest has been opened and adjourned into the death of a Jersey teenager who it's believed had become ill after taking a strong form of the drug ecstasy.
The Coroner's court was told that 18-year-old Kyle Pringle from St Helier had collapsed on June 17th and had been taken to the A & E department at the General Hospital.
He was pronounced dead at 06:51am. It was his mother who had identified his body.
Police on the island had warned of a particularly strong form of the drug in circulation. The tablets are blue and yellow in colour with the IKEA brand stamped on the side.
The results of toxicology tests on the teenager's body are awaited as well as a pathologist's report.
As police confirmed there are no suspicious circumstances in relation to the teenagers death, the Coroner said he was happy to release the body for funeral arrangements and cremation.
Meanwhile Jersey Police have made a number of arrests in connection with the seizure of that are believed to be ecstasy tablets.
