Hannah Lesbirel ran 24.95 seconds at Footes Lane to become the first Guernsey woman to go under 25 seconds and break the island record which has stood since 1993.

Indi Gallagher was less than two tenths of a second behind as the two athletes jump to the top of Guernsey’s all-time list for the distance.

Both are heading to next month’s NatWest Island Games in Gotland where expectations of medals will be high.

Lesbirel and Gallagher’s times would have been good enough to secure gold at the Games in Jersey two years ago.

Gotland-bound Abigail Galpin, Jasmine Norman, and Amelia Lees also ran fast times in the specially organised race.
