New footpath unveiled by Jersey Airport

A new public footpath on the northern end of the Jersey Airport runway has been opened.

It has been built by the Ports of Jersey for the Parish of St Peter, while they continue re-developing the airport.

Yesterday, children from two local schools unveiled a special plaque on the footpath.

The Connétable of St Peter, John Refault, has welcomed the new facility.

Jersey Airport is currently working on a £1.5m re-development project, designed to improve safety at the airport.

In order to make the required changes, the Ports of Jersey had to buy two nearby properties in the Parish and demolish them.

The Chief Executive, Doug Bannister, says it is important for the airport to play its role within the community.
