More details of Guernsey Island Wide Voting Referendum expected

More details are expected today on Guernsey's upcoming Island Wide Voting referendum.

The States Assembly & Constitution Committee is due to give a statement on the issue to the Assembly.

There has been controversy over how the vote will work, and which options will be put to islanders.

Some of the options include:

  • Full island wide voting - this would mean all deputies are elected island wide on one day

  • Rolling system - all deputies would be elected island wide but on a rolling basis, so votes could take every two years for example

  • Super constituency - Splitting the island into two, three of four constituencies of voters and deputies

  • Staying with the current system
