States 'may' investigate Ports of Jersey's involvement in St Helier's lifeboat resignation
Jersey's government says it won't rule out an investigation into the Ports of Jersey's involvement in St Helier's lifeboat crew stepping down.
The Assistant Chief Minister, Paul Routier, has told the States he is waiting for the RNLI's internal review to take place.
After that, he will then consider what action the government needs to take.
Senator Sarah Ferguson called for full independent investigation into the Ports of Jersey's involvement in the issue during the States Assembly today.
But the Assistant Chief Minister - the government politician taking responsibility for the issue - says it is too early to commit to, or rule out, such an inquiry.
Addressing the Assembly, he said agreed that mediation should take place as soon as possible.
He said mediation should have taken place 18 months to two years ago when relations first broke down.
It has been almost two weeks since the crew resigned when their coxswain was asked to step down.
