Family raise funds for terminally ill father's treatment

The friends and family of a Jerseyman recently diagnosed with a brain tumour are trying to raise £20,000 for specialist treatment in Germany.

Father of two, Rafal Tabor, 40, was diagnosed just four weeks ago after visiting his GP following a sudden bout of numbness in his right hand and leg.

His wife Monika and a number of family friends, are now desperately trying to raise funds to send him to a clinic in Germany that offers pioneering proton therapy that could save his life.

To help raise the funds Rafal needs the Polish community in Jersey have started to distribute collection boxes in Polish shops and pubs and a crowfunding page has been set up, with the aim of raising £27,000 for Rafal.

So far they have raised over half of the funds needed but they are still short of their target figure and are urging Islanders to help out.
