70-year-old islander swims 70km in 70 days

A woman in Jersey has taken on an epic endurance challenge proving you're never too old to try something new.

Sylvia Trehiou is swimming 70 kilometres in 70 days to celebrate her 70th year.

The feat will help raise money for Diabetes Jersey, a condition her husband Nigel lives with, and Macmillan Jersey- a charity that supported her daughter Wendy through cancer.

Her daughter Wendy Trehiou was also the first solo swimmer to swim from St Malo to Jersey.

Sylvia says she wants to inspire others to take on the challenges they've always dreamed of.
