New prosecutor in Groves trial wants conclusion 'as soon as possible'

A new prosecutor in the trial of Sarah Groves' accused killer has said he wants a conclusion 'as soon as possible'.

The case has seen no progress for 19 months, with no witnesses being heard from.

Defendant Richard De Wit denies killing the Guernsey woman on a houseboat in India in 2013.

Sarah's father, Vic Groves, says he has had 'positive' communication with new Advocate Syed Maqbool Ahmad, who will 'use his best endeavours' to 'bring the case to a safe conclusion as soon as possible'.

Yesterday was the 86th hearing and the first with Advocate Ahmad in place.

There have already been two prosecutors before him.
