New upcycle service at Jersey's recycling centre

Jersey's new household recycling centre officially opened its gates today.

The site at La Collette is free to use and offers not just recycling of all household waste, but the option to donate unwanted goods as well.

They'll be upcycled by the disability charity Acorn and sold on, with all profits reinvested back into the charity.

Steve Pearce, from the Jersey Employment Trust, tells ITV News how Acorn and the Trust is benefiting from the new arrangement with the recycling plant.

Local artist, Ian Rolls, designed the new recycling centre after winning a competition held by Infrastructure.

He used old household items like bottle tops and discarded children's toys, to help make the site a colorful and interesting place to visit.
