Coronation Street actor gives tips to disabled islanders

Coronation Street actor, Cherylee Houston, is the show's first long-running disabled character.

She plays Izzy Armstrong who has Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, which also affects Cherylee in real life.

Cherylee was in Jersey this weekend and has these top tips for aspiring actors with disabilities across the Channel Islands.

Her advice includes:

  • Never give up or listen to people who say 'you can't do it'

  • Get involved in local theatres

  • Go to plays and see who casting directors are

  • Start writing to people

  • Make films for Youtube

  • Find people to collaborate with

  • Write plays
