Chamber of Commerce: Sark Vineyards were hounded out of existence
Sark's Chamber of Commerce has said it is a 'tragedy' that Sark Vineyards has been 'hounded out of existence', after announcing its closure.
The company has blamed authorities for its end, claiming they have faced 'obstructions' since their inception in 2010.
The Chamber is 'very disappointed' with the decision, which they think will mean 'huge losses' for the island.
They're now calling for the government to 'change its attitude' towards investment and 'fears for the future of the island' if they don't.
In a statement they said 'the Vineyards were one of the biggest employers of resident labour on Sark and...that business actually filtered through to all walks of enterprise.
'The Vineyards had the potential to provide, if encouraged, a visitor attraction for Sark.'
