Special service of remembrance for families who have lost a child

A church service for parents who have lost a child will be held in Guernsey this evening.

Charity, Guernsey Sands, have organised the event to help give bereaved Mums and Dads peace at Christmas time.

The night will consist of traditional carols, readings and musical performances at Castel Church from 7:30pm.

For families attending the service, there will be a 'Lights of Love' Christmas tree, where parents will be able to add a special message in memory of their son or daughter.

'Lights of Love' started in Guernsey five years ago after islander Jean Thoumine contacted Sands in the UK. She lost her baby in England in 1964 and the charity were able to help her find it's final resting place. After, the charity came over to visit Jean and revived it's work on the island.
