Electricity regulator is 'a step forward'
Sark's government says the island's first electricity regulator is 'a step forward'.
They will have the power to regulate prices, which are currently among the highest in the world.
Last night Chief Pleas voted to bring in the system, saying it will give customers 'confidence' that prices will be 'fair and reasonable'.
That will encourage investment and help businesses, the government added.
Electricity currently costs 61p per unit and Sark Electricity Ltd had warned customers it will go up to 70p in December.
But, the government hope this move will stop that happening.
Work is now going into finding an independent commissioner.
