25ft Roman wall discovered at Alderney Nunnery
Archaeologists have discovered 25ft of Roman wall at The Nunnery in Alderney.
It's part of the best-preserved Roman small fort in Britain and stands on the site of the oldest standing building in the Channel Islands.
The team also found the entrance to a tower, which they think is either the way the Romans went in or it could show that somebody reused the tower to live.
They say it's a major new piece in the jigsaw of its story.
The Nunnery overlooks Longis Bay and the site has been continuously occupied since the 4th century AD.
Alderney authorities are now working on how best to showcase and preserve the building.
