Tributes paid to 'darling daughter' who died after incident off Jersey coast

The family of Joy Godfray who died after being rescued last night have described her as 'a darling daughter'.

It was the eve of her 32nd birthday.

Jersey Fire Service's rescue boat and two RNLI Lifeboats were launched at about 8.20 pm, after two swimmers were caught in extreme conditions off Green Island.

Islanders have left their messages of support for Joy's family on social media.

Friend, Kelly-Rose Crawford paid tribute on Facebook: "Thinking of you and your family. So very sad to hear that you have left us, it was far too soon. What should of been a magic moment ended in pure tragedy. Rest well. Lots of love always."

Speaking of their shared love for music, Jamie Papworth wrote: "Jersey's a cold place again today. Rest in peace Joy - a wonderful person, a heartfelt musician, and a fellow open mic'er who was there to play a part in some of the happiest times of my life."

Keiran Wisdom said: "R.I.P Joy Godfray, wonderful musician and among the best of my friends, I will never forget you or your kindness in the time I have left on this earth, all I know is you made some of the best times for me with the jamming and musical debates,I will really miss that, Thank you Joy."

Stacey Lake wrote: "Thoughts go out to Joy's family and friends, she was such a lovely person, I'm honoured to have known her x RIP darling x."
