Warning for horse owners after Ragwort is discovered in Guersney

A plant which is capable of killing horses has been spotted growing in Guernsey.

It's sea of bright yellow blooms may look beautiful, but ragwort can cause liver damage if it is consumed.

Ragwort is a tall plant which can grow up to 3 feet, bearing large flat-topped clusters of yellow daisy-like flowers and it usually grows from July to October.

The Noxious Weeds (Guernsey) Law, 1952 states that an occupier of land must not allow noxious weeds that are in flower or seed to grow on that land

The GSPCA is advising horse owners to check their land.
