Heather Watson has hit back at twitter users who sent messages of abuse to the tennis star after she crashed out of Wimbledon, saying they're 'not brave enough to say it in person'.

Some people suggested she should 'find a new career':

Others simply called her a 'failure':

Heather crashed out the first round of Wimbledon yesterday after losing to German player Annika Beck.

She said in a press conference after the match that she feels 'so angry' with herself that she 'needs to punish' herself and she has already been on twitter to read 'plenty' of abuse.

But the Heather lovers were out in even greater numbers, saying she should 'let the haters hate' and that she is 'brilliant'.

The Tennis Integrity Unit (TIU) works with police to tackle the problem of abuse.

They told the Telegraph they also work closely to any players who are receive it.
