Andy Priaulx 'excited and honoured' ahead of Le Mans 24
Guernsey racing driver Andy Priaulx will be taking part in one the world's most prestigious racing event this weekend; the Le Mans 24 Hours.
The 24 Hours of Le Mans is the world's oldest active sports car race in endurance racing, it's been held annually since 1923. The event is one leg of the the Triple Crown of Motorsport with the Indianapolis 500 and the Monaco Grand Prix.
He will be racing with his new stable Ford Chip Ganassi Racing on a landmark year for the manufacturer, as 50 years ago exactly they scored a historic one-two three in the event.
Priaulx has already been on the Podium at Le Mans back in 2011 when he was racing for BMW and says he is looking for a podium finish this time around also:
So far this season the number 67 car that Andy shares with fellow Brits Marino Franchitti and Harry Tinknell has had a good build up to the race, with a podium in the second round of the FIA World Endurance Championship in Spa-Francorchamps.
Priaulx says it's been a big step up changing to Ford on their comeback year to the endurance circuit but one he is taking in his stride.
Andy Priaulx is no longer just looking after his own results either as his son Sebastian is racing well in his maiden season in the Ginetta Junior Championship.
