Shock for islander who discovers his friend is on crashed EgyptAir plane
A friend of the sole British man on the crashed EgyptAir flight, has spoken about the shock of discovering his friend was among the passengers.
Islander, Steve Ellyatt, said he sent a text message to Richard Osman when he heard a plane was missing, hoping his friend was booked on an alternative flight.
When Mr Ellyatt did not get a reply he messaged Osman’s wife, Aurelie.
She was able to confirm that 40-year-old Richard was on the flight, which dropped off the radar between Paris and Cairo.
Steve Ellyatt has told ITV he ‘can’t even think about how she’s coping.’
Ellyatt says the couple, who had been living in Jersey for around 2 years, had ‘settled well’ into village life in St Aubin - despite also having a home in Paris.
He has been speculating on how fellow villagers will be reacting to the news.
