Lottery grant saves the day for Guernsey's North Show

A flower selling campaign was set up to raise money for the North Show

Guernsey's North Show will go ahead this year, thanks to a £10,000 grant from the Channel Islands Christmas Lottery.

The future of the event has been in question for several months, after organisers revealed there was not enough money to keep it going.

The North Show committee appealed for funding from the 2015 Christmas Lottery earlier this year.

It is one of 27 local charities that will benefit from lottery money, including a £10,000 grant to Floral Guernsey, towards the restoration work at La Vallette.

The biggest amount, of more than £26,000, was given to the Guernsey Cheshire Home, to help with running costs.

A total of £219,787.68 was made from lottery ticket sales in Guernsey last year, and the proceeds were given to the Association of Guernsey Charities to distribute.
