Friends of James Bailey, who died in January after a battle with mental health, have urged young men in Jersey to access support for mental health issues.

A memorial football match has been held today at Springfield, to raise awareness and funds for charity Mind Jersey.

The match saw the team made up of De La Salle classmates lose out to a Victoria College squad, 5-3.

But captain of the opposition and good friend of James, Brett Goodfellow, said the score was not important.

Spectators were charged £5 to watch the game and an online fundraising page, set up for people who couldn’t be there to donate this morning, has already raised more than £3,000.

The online page, set up by Brett, describes the 22-year-old as a ‘happy and outgoing lad.’

The services offered by 'Mind Jersey' are explained on the charity's website, which includes a section for people who may need to access urgent help.
