Jersey welcomes the very best for 10th NatWest Jersey Table Tennis Open

It was another exciting year at the NatWest Jersey Open, for its 10th edition more big names than ever turned up at the Geoff Reed Table Tennis Centre.

Headlining those names was Will Bayley the current world no.1 paralympic player and Ryan Jenkins the Welsh no.1.

It was a great opportunity for the island's up and coming talent to pit themselves against some of the best:

With Bayley going out against the number one seed Jenkins and Jersey's last standing player Jordan Wykes falling to number three seed Darius Knight in the last eight, it was no surprise that the four top seeds reached the semi-finals.

In the semis Jenkins easily got rid of 4th seed Danny Lawrence in straight sets.

The other semi was a rematch of the 2015 final between the two big hitters Knight and last year's winner David McBeath. In a 5 game thriller it was Knight who avenged himself and claimed his spot in the final.

The final was a tense match, with Knight taking the first but Jenkins responding well winning the next two. In the fourth Jenkins piled on the pressure and finally broke his opponent down, reclaiming a title he last won in 2011.

For Knight, it was yet another 2nd place at the NatWest Jersey Open.

Emma Vickers took the Women's event

In the Women's competition Emma Vickers came out on top, she beat Katie Hughes in the final in four games after dropping the first.
