National Trust to restore historic St Helier buildings

Three iconic St Helier buildings have been given to The National Trust for Jersey.

The Trust will now be able to sympathetically restore the Pitt Street buildings, which include the former Foots music store, after The Channel Islands Co-operative Society gave them to it.

The restoration will be done alongside the main Charing Cross development, which includes a Premier Inn, a Co-operative store and a retail unit on the corner of Pitt Street and King Street.

The project is due to compete in Spring 2018.

But, previously, the National Trust had raised concerns about funding the project. Speaking to ITV in December 2014, the Trust's Chief Executive said;
