Guernsey's new Lieutenant Governor announced
The new Lieutenant Governor for Guernsey has been announced as Vice Admiral Ian Corder.
The 55-year old, who has served 38 years in the Royal Navy, will be taking office on the 14th March.
It follows the sudden death of Air Marshal Peter Walker last year, September.
The Vice Admiral is currently serving as the UK's representative to NATO and the European Union.
He will continue to hold both posts, and then permanently move to island in June.
In the meantime, the islands Bailiff Sir Richard Collas has said he will share the role with the Vice Admiral.
Deputy Jonathan Le Tocq, Chief Minister has said he is "delighted" by Her Majesty's decision, stating it was important the appointment took place ahead of the island's general election.
