Jets come close to beating undefeated Tameside at Fort Regent

Team Jets came tantalisingly close to becoming the first team to beat Tameside in their so far flawless season.

The game ended with the Manchester club winning by 7 points 45-52 a score line that does not accurately reflect just how tight the game was.

The first quarter started at a hectic pace, Tameside taking an early lead and shooting at a high percentage from the start. But carried by an enthusiastic crowd Team Jets refused to give the visitors anything to build on, the quarter finishing 9-11.

The second Quarter was Jersey's best, their determined defence forcing Tameside into conceding turnovers. Goal attack Lynsey Pitman capitalising on mistakes and scoring 11 point. The quarter finishing with Jersey in the lead, up by a single point at the half 22-21.

The third saw more roller coaster action, each team seemingly playing in spells. But it was Tameside's precision that made the difference, their goal scorer Ellie Smith scoring a perfect 12 from 12. Jersey down by 4 going into the final quarter.

The girls fought hard in the fourth, determined to give the packed crowed something to cheer about. But in the end there were a few too many mistakes from the Jets and it was Tameside's experience that paid off in the final minutes.

On the final whistle Team Jets down by seven:

Team Jets come away knowing they played some fantastic netball, pushing a team that has yet to loose a game this season further than anyone else in Premier 2.

The Jets will now look to bring that experience and their confidence into next weeks game against Clan.
