A new appeal is being launched today to raise funds towards the £20,000 needed for Guernsey's North Show this year.

The 'Save it with flowers' campaign is offering locally grown Chrysanthemums for £4 a bunch.

The flowers have been donated by flower enthusiast Mark Chipperfield.

Funds need to be raised to put on the fair this year, after disappointing losses from last year.

Guernsey States have been asked to contribute towards the cash needed.

The show treasurer has said the famous Battle of Flowers may need to be 'trimmed back' this year in order to be within budget.[](http://www.itv.com/news/channel/2016-01-26/states-asked-to-secure-funds-for-guernseys-north-show/)

The flowers will be available from Alliance Cash and Carry, Forest Stores and Saumarez Park Tearooms for around three weeks.
