Turtle is battling the odds, vets didn't think she would make it

Terri the turtle in her pool at New Age Vets

Terri the turtle, who washed up in Jersey 12 days ago, is fighting the odds to survive.

Vet Peter Haworth said they didn't think she would survive when they first found her as she was 'virtually dead'.

The cold blooded reptile needs to live in warm water and the species is normally found in the Mediterranean.

She was 'cold and startled' when she arrived at New Era Vets, but Peter says now she's in water above 20 degrees she has become 'a different creature'.

However, Terri needs a proper home and one has been offered in Gran Canaria.

But she needs a private jet to get there, costing £22,000.

Peter explains why she needs a jet here.

A fundraising page has been set up to raise the amount.
