Jersey tennis player, Scott Clayton, is into the semi-finals of the Qatar Futures after a 7-6 7-6 win over Jonathan Mridha.

The 21 year old may have completed the job in straight sets but it was far from straightforward as he had to come through two extremely close tie breaks against the Swede in order to win.

Clayton won the first 12-10 and the second 9-7 to progress to only his second ever singles semi-final at Futures level.

The Caesarean knocked out the number one seed earlier in the tournament but faces an equally tough task in the last four.

He is up against number four seed, Joris De Loore, who won the singles and doubles titles in last week's Futures tournament in Doha.
