'And they're off' Phil Sharp sets off on record passage from Land's End to John O'Groats
Jersey sailor, Phil Sharp, has set off on a new world record attempt today as he aims to sail non-stop from Land's End to John O'Groats.
The 34 year old, who is arguably best known for winning the prestigious Route du Rhum in 2006, will set sail at around midday.
All sorts of record have been set for travelling between the two iconic points, running, walking, biking and even golfing but so far no benchmark time has been set for sailing.
It's estimated the 620 miles passage should take around 55-60 hours.
Also in his team will be Alex Alley, an experienced ocean racer, and Sean Conway, one of the UK's most renowned adventurers.
In this video taken before the boat set sail Sean takes us through his fears and expectations for the adventure to come.
You can track their attempt here thanks to a tracker placed on the boat.
