Beere bowls a strong start in Cyprus
Guernsey's Lucy Beere got off to a perfect start to the Atlantic Championships in Cyprus yesterday. She won her two first matches with ease, beating Havva Konanc from Turkey 21-14 and Miriam Ndungu from Kenya 21-12.
Her opening game this morning did not go as smoothly as she lost to Scotland 21-10. She still has some tough matches to come as she faces Spain and Zimbabwe tomorrow.
Only the top three in the competition will head to the medal play-offs however a top five finish would be enough to qualify her for the 2016 World Championships in New Zealand.
Guernsey men's fours also got off to a strong start by beating Turkey and Namibia. They are currently on top of the table and face off against Jersey this morning.
