Photos: Contents of Jersey's finest Georgian house go to auction

The contents of one of Jersey's finest Georgian homes are to go to auction next weekend.

Claremont Court, St Helier, houses a lifetime's collection of of antiques and art, ranging from the 17th and 18th century to contemporary pieces.

The collection was the passion of the late Dr Hugh Thurston, an economist and multilinguist, who traveled the world extensively collecting a vast amount of items from many cultures and religions.

There are 1,200 lots in the auction, happening at Martel Maides.

They include a Victorian stained glass window, two 1,000-year-old Chinese jade swords and a large collection of Inuit art.

Items are being valued from £20 to £15,000 and are expected to fetch a lot of interest.
