Channel Islands officially the sunniest part of the British Isles

ITV News can reveal the Channel Islands are officially the sunniest place in the British Isles.

Tourism bosses say they can capitlise on the title and "market the Channel Islands more aggressively".

The figures were revealed today by the Jersey Met Department, who confirmed that compared with every other place in the British Isles, Guernsey and Jersey had more sunshine - with Jersey just pipping Guernsey to racking up slightly more.

But some visitor attractions warn that they need more support from Tourism to keep pulling in tourists and one answer could be 'selling' the Bailiwicks as 'the Channel Islands' as a whole.

'Creepy Valley' adventure park in St Brelade, received financial backing from the Tourism Development Fund to get the business going. They warn this needs to keep coming if other business ideas are going to flourish.
