Fewer prisoners in Jersey's La Moye
The number of prisoners in La Moye in Jersey is falling.
The daily average last year was 141 - 18 fewer than the year before.
This follows the downward trend since 2012, when the population reduced significantly, and has continued to do so since.
The numbers of young offenders and juveniles were also low, with no females under the age of 21 and only one male juvenile (15 - 17 years of age) being convicted and sentenced during the year.
There was also a drop in the number of assaults on prisoners, but a rise in the number of assaults on staff. They doubled between 2013 and 2014. The Prison says eight of the assaulted were by one 'very difficult and violent individual.'
