Dream come true for football-loving Anthony

Anthony McMahon

9-year-old Anthony McMahon has been chosen to lead the Guernsey side out at this year's 99th Muratti in May.

Anthony was born with abnormal hip joints and with one leg shorter than the other.

That means that his dreams of playing professional football depends on life-changing surgery.

In January this year Anthony suffered a major setback when a specialist from Southampton General Hospital told him and his family he would not be able to carry out the surgery.

But despite that he has managed to stay upbeat and continues to play the game he loves.

Anthony's father Ian says he is immensely proud of his son and loves being able to have a kickaround with him.

The football organisation says his story is an inspiration and that Anthony has shown tremendous courage.
