A section of the M6 was closed off to allow the controlled explosion to safely take place. Credit: PA The M6 has re-opened southbound between junction 7 for Great Barr and the M42 and northbound from the M42 to junction 7. Highways England is urging motorists to leave extra time for their journeys. The A38(M) Aston Expressway, linking Birmingham city centre with the M6, remains closed at this time.
