A crowd gathered outside the Padley Development Centre in Derby during his visit hoping to catch a glimpse of him.
The Duke of Cambridge is given a tour by managing director Richard Hunter during a visit to Bombardier Transportation in Derby.
Prince William met volunteers and clients of the Padley Development Centre, one of Derby's longest established charities.
He got stuck into activities at the centre, helping to make Christmas decorations and a rainmaker instrument.
The Duke also got the chance to test drive a train during an inspection of the Crossrail carriage assembly lines.
