Tributes have been paid to Former British and European Boxing heavyweight Champion Jack Bodell who has died at the age of 76, following a battle with dementia.

The Derbyshire born former butcher from Swadlincote claimed the British heavyweight title in 1969, and later secured commonwealth and European titles before the end of his career in 1972.

He then went on to run a successful fish and chip shop in Tile Hill, Coventry, which was once famously visited by Mohammed Ali.

ITV News Central spoke to a confident, 27 year-old Jack Bodell ahead of his fight against American Ray Patterson.
