Doctor seeks to appeal against conviction over death of six-year-old
A doctor found guilty of gross negligence after the death of a six-year-old boy is seeking to appeal against her conviction.
Dr Hadiza Bawa-Garba, 38, was given a suspended sentence at Nottingham Crown Court last December after being found guilty of the manslaughter of Jack Adcock.
A month-long trial heard that Jack, from Glen Parva, Leicestershire, died in 2011 after going into septic shock while being treated at Leicester Royal Infirmary.
A spokesman for the Crown Prosecution Service said: "Dr Bawa-Garba has sought leave to appeal the conviction.
"A judge will need to decide whether or not to grant permission and if that happens, it will go to the Court of Appeal."
