57-year-old Andris Logins carried out the abuse while employed at the former Beechwood children's home in Nottingham.

On behalf of this Council, I welcome this lengthy custodial sentence for a man who blatantly betrayed his position of trust with vulnerable children. I applaud the victims in this case for their bravery, courage and persistence in helping to bring Logins to justice. The outcome in this case is proof that victims will be listened to and believed. The abuse of children in any era is totally unacceptable. I pledged last November to make an unreserved apology to victims if this Council was found to have failed to protect children in its care. Tomorrow at a meeting of our Full Council, I will fulfil that promise.”

– Nottinghamshire County Council Leader Coun Alan Rhodes
