Notts County FC has gone up for sale after chairman Ray Trew announced his resignation.

In an an open letter to fans he wrote that he had mixed emotions abut leaving but that his family had been subjected to "foul, mindless abuse in recent days".

'Potential buyer' in the wings for Notts County

A potential buyer is already being lined up to buy Notts County football club, ITV News Central understands.

Current chairman Ray Trew announced his decision to put the club up for sale earlier this morning, citing the abuse his family had received as his reason for resigning.
