Father and sons jailed for life over flat fire murders

A father and his sons have been jailed for life with a total minimum term of 81 years for murdering two teenagers and a six-month-old baby in a flat fire.

Peter Eyre, 44, and sons Anthony, 22, and Simon, 24, were convicted at Nottingham Crown Court on Thursday of setting a fire in a botched revenge attack in Langley Mill, Derbyshire.

There were emotional scenes in court as the bereaved of families two teenagers killed in a flat fire in Derbyshire produced powerful victim impact statements depicting their loss.

The prosecutor James Howse QC struggled to hold back tears as he read an impact statement from Edward Green's family.

Amanda Green, Edward Green's mother, spoke of the impact her son's death had had on her other children, particularly her six-year-old daughter.

Her partner Wayne Green told the court about the note his daughter had written Santa Claus at Christmas, begging him to bring her brother back.

"Don't bother bringing any presents this year. Just bring Ed back.

Mr Green said that a part of him died the night his son's life was taken.

"When Ed was murdered that night, a part of us was murdered too.

A court heard how the families of both teenagers are attending weekly bereavement sessions as they try to come to term with their loss.

The father and two sons convicted of their murder are due to be sentenced tomorrow.
